Understand Space settings fields and owner actions

- Decide whether transfer, archive, unarchive, or delete is the right action.
- Troubleshoot offline and permission-related settings problems.
Terms you may see:
- Owner is the only member who can change the protected Space identity fields and owner actions.
- Danger Zone contains actions with broad access or recovery impact.
- No internet state blocks shared settings updates.
- Archived and deleted are different states with different recovery paths.

Check whether an action is owner-only
- Open Settings > General.
- Find the field or Danger Zone action.
- If the control is disabled, check whether you are the Space owner.
- If you are not the owner, ask the owner to make the change.
Review impact before owner actions
Use this order:
- Transfer ownership when another active member should become responsible for the Space.
- Archive when the Space should be hidden but may be needed later.
- Unarchive when an archived Space should be active again.
- Delete only when removal is intentional and the recovery impact is understood.
Confirm a shared change
- Refresh the app after the update.
- Check the header or Space selector for name/avatar changes.
- Review date-sensitive work after timezone changes.
- Ask another member to verify when the change affects everyone.
Troubleshooting
The page shows no internet
- Symptom: Shared fields are blocked or changes do not save.
- Cause: Space settings require a connection.
- Resolution:
- Reconnect.
- Refresh after the app syncs.
- Retry the change once.
Transfer ownership fails
- Symptom: The selected member does not become owner.
- Cause: The user may not be an active member, your app may be offline, or the update may still be syncing.
- Resolution:
- Confirm the next owner appears as an active member.
- Confirm the app is online.
- Retry after refresh.
Delete Space is not visible
- Symptom: You expect a delete action but cannot find it.
- Cause: The action may be owner-only, unavailable for the current Space state, or hidden by plan availability.
- Resolution:
- Confirm you are the owner.
- Check the Danger Zone section.
- Ask support or a billing owner if plan availability appears to be the blocker.
FAQ
Is the Owner field editable directly?
No. Ownership changes through the Transfer ownership action.
Do Space timezone changes rewrite old task dates?
No. Treat timezone changes as a shared interpretation setting. Review calendars, reminders, and dashboards after changing it.
Can archived Spaces be reopened?
When unarchive is available, yes. If it is not available, ask the Space owner or support to confirm the current state.
