Manage notifications and pending updates
Notifications and pending updates help you notice work that needs attention, such as invites, mentions, chat activity, reminders, assignments, or account-level updates. The exact notification types available can depend on Space settings and feature usage.
Before you start
- You need access to the Space or item that generated the update.
- Some notifications may depend on Space settings, account preferences, feature-specific behavior, network state, or device/browser notification permission.
How account access works
- The app detects relevant updates for your account.
- Some updates appear as badges, pending notification cards, or feature-specific unread counts.
- The Notifications dialog groups task-change and overdue-task notifications into Unread, Saved, and All views.
- Invites may appear before you fully join a Space.
- Opening, marking as read, or saving the related item may clear or update the notification state.
Expected outcome: You can identify pending work and follow the correct path to act on it.
Review pending invites
- Sign in with the account that received the invite.
- Check for pending invite or notification prompts.
- Open the invite.
- Accept or decline based on whether you should join the Space.
- If the invite is missing, ask the sender to confirm the email/account used.
Review unread notifications
- Open the notification area from the app header when the notification icon or badge is available.
- Use the Unread tab to review new task-change and overdue-task notifications.
- Select a notification to open the related task when available.
- Use Mark as read for one item or Mark all as read when you want to clear the visible unread batch.
Save a notification for later
- Open Notifications.
- Select the bookmark action on a notification.
- Open the Saved tab to review saved notifications.
- Select the saved bookmark action again when you want to remove it from Saved.
Review unread chat or activity updates
- Look for badges or unread indicators near Chat or related app areas.
- Open the relevant feature area.
- Review unread channels, conversations, mentions, or activity.
- Open the item to mark it as reviewed when supported.
Manage email notification preferences
- Open your account menu.
- Open Email Notifications.
- Use All Email Notifications to turn the email group on or off.
- When email notifications are enabled, choose whether to receive Task Assignments, Overdue, and Comments emails.
- Select Done to save and close the dialog.
Troubleshoot missing updates
- Confirm you are signed in to the expected account.
- Confirm the active Space.
- Search for the related item.
- Check whether the item was archived, deleted, moved, or restricted.
- Ask the sender or Space admin to confirm permissions.

| Device/browser alerts | Device or browser notification permission | Enable permissions from the device/browser when prompted. | Browser and mobile permissions can block local or push notification display. |
Empty, disabled, and error states
- No notifications can mean there are no pending updates, not that notification delivery is broken.
- No unread notifications, No saved notifications, and You have no notifications are normal empty states for the three notification views.
- Offline state can prevent the Notifications dialog from refreshing.
- A badge may remain when another unread item exists in the same area.
- An invite may not appear if it was sent to a different account or was revoked.
- Notification preferences, Space settings, and feature-specific behavior can affect which updates appear.
Troubleshooting
An invite did not appear
- Symptom: Someone invited you, but you do not see the invite.
- Cause: The invite may have been sent to a different account, expired, revoked, or blocked by access rules.
- Resolution:
- Confirm the email or login identity used for the invite.
- Ask the sender to resend the invite.
- Sign out and sign in with the invited account if needed.
- Contact a Space admin if the invite still does not appear.
A badge does not clear
- Symptom: A notification or unread badge remains after you open the related area.
- Cause: Another unread item may remain, or the badge state may not have refreshed yet.
- Resolution:
- Review the related feature area for other unread items.
- Refresh the app.
- Report an issue if the badge remains with no visible unread items.
You did not receive an expected update
- Symptom: You expected an update for a task, comment, reminder, or message, but nothing appeared.
- Cause: Notification behavior may depend on ownership, membership, mentions, settings, permissions, notification preferences, or device/browser notification permission.
- Resolution:
- Confirm you have access to the related item.
- Check whether you were assigned, mentioned, or included.
- Review Email Notifications if the missing update should arrive by email.
- Confirm device or browser notification permissions if the missing update should appear as an alert.
- Ask the item owner to confirm the update was saved.
FAQ
Are notifications the same as reminders?
No. Reminders are scheduled follow-ups. Notifications are broader updates that can include messages, invites, mentions, task activity, and other account or Space changes.
Can I see notifications for work I cannot access?
No. Updates should respect permissions. Ask a Space owner or admin if you believe you should have access.
