Use public pages before signing in
Public pages let people learn about the product, open Help articles, sign up, sign in, accept invites, and open read-only shared content before entering the signed-in app.
Use public pages when you need to:
- Start from the product website.
- Change public page language where supported.
- Create an account or sign in.
- Open a Space invite link.
- Read Help articles at
/help. - Open read-only shared List, Doc, or Whiteboard links.
- Review privacy, terms, security, pricing, features, or download pages when available.
Terms you may see:
- Public page means you can open it without a signed-in session.
- Signed-in app link means the page requires authentication and usually starts with the app experience after sign-in.
- Website Help shows help content but cannot control the live app UI.
- Read-only shared pages let external viewers open shared content without full app editing controls.
Before you start
- Public pages require only a browser.
- Sign-up, sign-in, and invite acceptance require email, password, verification code, or provider access.
- Editing shared content requires signing in with an account that has the right Space access.
How app navigation works
- Open a public page such as the website home,
/help,/login,/signup, an invite link, or a read-only shared link. - Read public content or choose the action you need.
- If the action requires an account, sign in or create one.
- After authentication, the app opens Space start or the protected app page you were trying to reach.
Expected outcome: You can start from a public link, learn or authenticate as needed, and continue into the signed-in app when required.

Troubleshooting
A public link asks you to sign in
- Symptom: A link you expected to read publicly opens sign-in.
- Cause: The link may point to protected app content, an invite flow, or a shared item that is no longer public.
- Resolution:
- Confirm whether the sender intended to send a public shared link.
- Sign in if you should have member access.
- Ask the sender for a valid public shared link if you should not need an account.
A localized public page falls back to English
- Symptom: The page opens, but content is not translated.
- Cause: Native translation may not be ready for that article or language.
- Resolution:
- Use the English fallback content.
- Search with broad keywords.
- Report missing translation if it blocks your team.
A shared List, Doc, or Whiteboard does not open
- Symptom: The public shared link shows an error or missing content.
- Cause: The link may be inactive, outdated, deleted, or no longer shared.
- Resolution:
- Ask the owner to confirm the link is still active.
- Ask whether the item was archived or deleted.
- Sign in with a member account if the content now requires Space access.
The app does not return to the intended page after sign-in
- Symptom: After authentication, the app opens Space start instead of the original protected page.
- Cause: Browser storage, redirects, or provider handoff may not preserve the intended destination.
- Resolution:
- Use app navigation or search to open the item.
- Reopen the original link after signing in.
- Avoid private browsing if the browser clears session state.
FAQ
Are shared List, Doc, and Whiteboard links editable?
No. Public shared content is read-only for external viewers. Editing requires signing in with the right Space access.
Why does a protected link remember where I was going?
When possible, the app keeps the intended destination during sign-in so it can return you after authentication.
