Create a Space

Create a Space when you need a new work area for a team, client, department, company, or major project. A Space keeps members, permissions, Collections, work items, reporting, and settings in one boundary.

Terms you may see:

  • Create space opens the Space creation dialog.
  • Space name is the required name for the new Space.
  • Create creates the Space from the dialog.
  • The new Space becomes the active Space after creation.

Before you start

  • Your account must be allowed to create Spaces.
  • The Space name must not be empty.
  • Space limits and plan rules can affect whether a new Space can be created.

Create a Space

  1. Open Space setup.
  2. Choose Create space.
  3. Enter a clear name in Space name.
  4. Choose Create.
  5. Wait for the app to open the new Space.

Expected outcome: The new Space becomes active. New work you create after this point belongs to that Space unless the app asks for another scope.

Choose a good Space name

Use a name that helps users recognize the work boundary quickly.

Troubleshooting

Create is disabled

  • Symptom: The Create action cannot be selected.
  • Cause: Space name is empty or contains only spaces.
  • Resolution:
    1. Enter a clear Space name.
    2. Remove leading and trailing spaces.
    3. Try Create again.

Create space does not complete

  • Symptom: The create dialog stays open or the Space does not appear.
  • Cause: Your connection may be offline, your session may have expired, your plan may block more Spaces, or your account may not be allowed to create a Space.
  • Resolution:
    1. Check your internet connection.
    2. Refresh and sign in again if needed.
    3. Ask an owner/admin to confirm whether your account can create Spaces.
    4. Check plan or usage limits if the app shows an upgrade or limit message.

FAQ

What happens after I create a Space?

The app opens the new Space and makes it available from the Space switcher.

Can I rename a Space later?

Yes, when your role allows Space settings changes. Space-level settings are managed from Settings.

Why does the guide say Create space when the dialog button says Create?

The guide uses the full action label so users know the guide will perform a real Space creation action. The dialog still shows the normal app button label.
