Communicate in Chat

Chat is for real-time team discussion inside a Space. Use Chat for general conversation, direct or group discussion, and channel-style topics. Use comments instead when the note must stay attached to a Task, Contact, or Company.

Use Chat to:

1. Start direct or group conversations.
2. Create channel-style conversations when available.
3. Review unread messages.
4. Send, edit, or delete your own messages.
5. Rename, archive, delete, or adjust settings for channel-style conversations when allowed.

Before you start

• Chat must be available for your Space and role.

• Creating conversations requires create access.

• Sending messages requires comment access for the selected conversation.

• Channel rename, settings, archive, and delete actions require matching access.

• Mobile opens the active conversation as a focused screen after selecting it.

• Create chat dialogs can maximize on mobile.

• The Chat drawer/dialog can open from other app areas without fully leaving the current page.

Troubleshooting

Chat is missing

• Symptom: You cannot find Chat or no conversations are visible.
• Cause: Chat may be disabled for the Space, hidden by role permissions, or no conversations exist yet.
• Resolution:
  1. Confirm the active Space.
  2. Ask a Space admin to confirm Chat access.
  3. Create a conversation if you have create access.

You cannot send messages

• Symptom: The composer is missing or disabled.
• Cause: You may not have comment access, or the conversation may be restricted.
• Resolution:
  1. Confirm you selected the correct conversation.
  2. Ask the owner or Space admin to confirm access.
  3. Refresh after access changes.
